One of the most noticeable trends in our clients’ comments is why they are coming in for a nude, boudoir or glamour session. It’s to celebrate something in their life that is just happening. An important birthday, or key event in their lives and transition events that they are excited or proud of.

Birthdays are the most popular or common event to celebrate with a nude or boudoir session. Birthdays mark where you are in your arch of life. Many of our clients are just celebrating themselves; it’s their own gift to themselves.

When you mark a special event – a birthday, anniversary, weight loss, graduation, wedding night gift, and so on – a photography session becomes the anchor to it.  Every time you look at your images (be it a wall print, book or album), the event that triggered it comes back to you.

This holds for any photographs you take. They become markers of the moment; they let us relive, even for just a moment, the event in the photograph.

When you create an event like a nude or boudoir photo session, your mind notices the intent and collects all the memories around the event, not just the photography, to be part of the bookmark or anchor.

It also signals to your subconscious what is important to you. Touchstones like achieving or working towards the weight you desire, the importance of your relationship, your value of self-confidence and self-esteem.

It’s such a unique thing to do, and seen as something so brave and outrageous (although the actual doing it is easier than you can imagine), that it becomes part of conversations, bringing up the reason and its importance in your life again and again.

I have talked about how for many clients it becomes a bucket list item. This is essentially planning the celebration.

It does not need to be tied to a physical time frame like a birthday date. It can be the moment you achieve something, like marking a stage of personal growth. Or even the start of a purpose. We have had women book sessions at the start of launching a new business or career.

When you use a personal, risqué photography session to celebrate any moment in your life, it defines your moment. It gives you the memory anchor to relive the joy of that plateau, that cornerstone of your life.

Have you done a risqué photography session to celebrate? Tell us about it.
