What Is Your Heart’s Desire?
Heart’s desires are interesting things. Sometimes you cannot even clearly articulate why or what they are. Often it is just a craving, you seek something . . . undefined.
Then you stumble upon us, hidden, in the niche of nude and boudoir portraits.
It is an exciting, even thrilling idea that is often scary in the excitement of it.
What most women who arrive in my studio know though is it’s not really about the nudes. That is the tangible item they receive, the proof of the rite of passage as some reference the experience.
For most the adventure is a revelation of their real beauty, their inner glow. It is a discovery of self-confidence that comes from pushing your limits, even daring your fears.
It is exciting. Did I mention that?
At times even . . . surreal.
Can you imagine starting a photography session so nervous you could barely speak? Hoping you can do this bold thing. Then after doing it, being so flushed with the thrill of it, having been nude for so many hours, that you start to rush towards the door . . . naked but for your spiked heels and a purse; off to regale waiting friends about your adventure? About to leave the studio still nude and not noticing it.
I asked her to look down as she reached for the door. She squealed in surprise.
Can you imagine that much excitement?
She said it was like finding herself, finding her boldness.
Years later she told me that every time she had been faced with a challenge, a fear . . . an opportunity she compared it to being transformed in her nude session.
She always asked herself, “Is it scarier than that?”
It rarely was, so the experience gave her the confidence to move through what the opportunity was. She rapidly went through many that crossed her path.
Traci told me she followed her heart’s desire to find me and now gets to follow her heart’s desires everywhere.
As an artist, I am also following my hearts desire to create what I do. I don’t try to do all the photography offers that cross my path. For example weddings are not my skill set or where my heart goes.
It is in this Heart’s Desire Niche of nudes and boudoir that I am most comfortable and really, really shine.
Inner Spirit Photography was the focus of a medical study sometime ago. For a whole year the researcher interviewed all of my clients before, just after and then some time after their sessions. Every woman it turns out was coming out of, going through or entering a time of personal change whether they were aware of it or not.
The photography session became a catalyst for them. They were chasing their heart’s desire when they found us even though some weren’t aware of it.
For most, the heart’s desire was not the nude images from my photo shoot of them, it was the empowerment, the clarity of themselves.
For some, their heart’s desire was the photo shoot. For them it was a celebration of their bodies, whatever their body’s shape.
So what is your Heart’s Desire? Could a nude or boudoir session be the transformation that takes you to it?
It’s a brand new year! It’s time to chase your Heart’s Desire!
